Wednesday Squad Dismissed

As you may already know Wednesday squad has been let go. We are going to need new members; so if you have an opportunity to leave some brochures or approach a friend that may be interested please do so...the organization as a whole will be stronger in the long run.

  1. The Wednesday squad was NOT dismissed, they all resigned. Commander Potts personally received each of their resignations in person at the Rusty Nail restaurant. STOP THE LIES.

  2. This whole fiasco could have been avoided if April had interceded at the service and pointed out that she had made a mistake on the schedule and the Marines were supposed to fold and present the flag.
All that happened was that you lost a lot of dedicated and good men
who only wanted to honor fellow vets. Not drive 30 mils or more just to be told they weren't needed. This had been and probably will continue to be an ongoing issue. I doubt very seriously if the organization will be "stronger in long run" because of the egos and politics involved.

  3. again, I will not continue to dignify your comments until I know who you are. The whole thing is a "fiasco," I do not know all of the details of the meetings because I was watching my 3 year old daughter. I report what I am told. I am not an elected officer, I serve at the request of the commander. The very night Bill Potts got elected the officers had a small pow wow trying to resolve this very issue, but once again Wednesday squad snubs their elected officials. I assume the election represented the will of Wednesday squad? This may be a volunteer organization, but that does not mean you can do whatever you want. What about the second vet that received no honors? I will not continue to justify the actions of the board or my personal opinions to a nameless, faceless computer screen. If you identify yourself I will continue to post your comments provided the are not over the top, otherwise I will not continue to respond...

  4. What Mr.Anon,(since he won't use his name), doesn't realize is that neithr April or I were notified about the Marines coming in. What he also doesn't realize that if a family or Funeral Home requests the Active Duty they take precedence over the Volunteer squad wether they notified us or not. We have requested from all funeral diretors and each branch of service to notify us if they are planning on sending a team to be part of the service for the Veteran. At times we do not always get notification. We are aware it can cause some people to be upset or put out but the main thing you have to rememeber the Veteran and the family come first. To just walk off like they did did a great disservice to the Veteran and his family. If there is an issue it needs to be brought up to the cemetery director or the commander of the guard. Walking off was a cowardly act in my opinion akin to a kid on the play ground taking his toys home because he can't get his way. Plus writing letters and not putting a name on it is the worst kind of coward. If you feel that strong about what you did then man up and put your name on it. I don't have a profile so this post willshow as anonymous but i will put my name in the bottom.
